Responsibilities

You’ll be researching, developing, evaluating and documenting robotics technologies.  This will include researching prior robotics and manipulation systems to meet business and technical needs.  For example:

  • Exploring and reviewing technical publications in a variety of fields
  • Evaluating the documents for their relevance to key research needs
  • Identifying specific reported technical features corresponding to CMR system details

Additionally, the role will involve forward looking technology evaluation, combined with practical and analytical support of the development of CMR’s cutting-edge surgical robotic system.

We’re a high growth company and as such roles change and evolve. We’d expect you to be willing to turn your hand to anything within the Research & Systems remit that helps the team deliver its objectives.

About you

A natural communicator hopefully goes without saying, but in addition we’d like you to have a strong understanding of mechanical, electronics and software engineering fundamentals, with analytical, theoretical, experimental and creative capabilities. Of course, you’ll also be a great team player and as keen as we are to work to the highest standards.

You’ll also have:

  • A physics, maths, or broad engineering background
  • Broad technical interests and practical skills in robotics, surgery, mechatronics, technical history
  • Familiarity with scientific & technical literature; experience of online and library-based research is a must
  • An interest in detective work with an eye for detail
  • The ability to produce clear and concise documentation
  • A genuine desire to help and support team members so that we can all achieve our best

It would be an advantage if you also had experience in:

  • Python
  • Labview – especially for experimental automation
  • Matlab
  • Hands on electronics and mechanical work

The package

We offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package (including non-contributory pension scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, life assurance, and our infamous monthly BBQs). On top of that, you’ll be joining a company with a fabulous culture of ambition, creativity and teamwork, and where fun is just as valued as our commitment to make surgery better for millions of people.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you!
