The two key themes to this two-day meeting are: firstly clinical training of surgeons, theatre nurses and first assistants with da Vinci robotics, and secondly embedding robotic surgery into mainstream clinical practice, including MDT working among pelvic surgeons, updates on NHS commissioning and private medical insurance issues, and insights into new and future platforms from all robotics manufacturers.
The BIARGS faculty are supported by two of the world’s most experienced trainers in robotic surgery in from the USA: Prof Arnold Advincula, from Columbia University, New York, past President of the AAGL, and many would say father of robotic gynaecologic surgery; and from Europe, Professor René Verheijen, Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist from UMC Utrecht, the current President of the European Society SERGS, and who has lead their Training Committee since its inception.
Mark Slack, Medical Director of Cambridge Medical Robotics, will be speaking at the event on Friday 20th April at 11:20am – Pitfalls of Surgical Innovation and the Tyranny of evidence based medicine; and at 11:55am a presentation on CMR and Versius.
