Senior IT Support Engineer

We’re looking for a dedicated and responsive Senior IT Support Engineer to join the IT Team. The role will require you to be on-site 5 days per week at both our Ely and Cambridge sites.The team are involved in supporting CMR colleagues worldwide and maintains the IT infrastructure, enterprise applications and user base in this dynamic and fast-paced company.

Responsibilities

Every day will be different, but some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving a broad range of IT service desk requests, both remotely and in-person, receiving requests from multiple channels and dealing with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Helping set up IT infrastructure where needed and maintaining excellent support services in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Helping new colleagues get “up to speed” with CMR IT systems and offering advice and knowledge sharing to all.
  • Managing access levels across a range of systems and applications.
  • Building and rebuilding laptops, PCs and mobile devices.
  • Contributing to and updating the documentation library and training materials.
  • Working collaboratively with all colleagues globally.
  • Managing suppliers and equipment procurement

About you

Naturally, you’ll be keen to continue and develop your career in IT Support and be able to demonstrate this. You’ll have a practical, hands-on and flexible approach, be a great team player, and be happy to throw yourself into a fast-paced environment. We’re also looking for you to be:

  • A proactive problem solver, able to ask questions and get information to correctly diagnose problems quickly and understand what level of support is needed when a problem is presented.
  • Responsive to issues that are escalated and able to resolve for the customer and team with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Able to identify areas for improvement and lead pragmatic solutions to bring positive change.
  • A great communicator and organiser, and able to build and sustain productive working relationships with all colleagues globally (IT team, software developers, engineers, commercial teams and more). You’ll be able to explain technical IT issues to non-technical staff with ease.
  • Ideally have experience managing, negotiating with and influencing the working of and with 3rd party vendors and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Able to work independently, take responsibility and manage your own time and tasks.
  • A specialist who’s adaptable, keen to gain new skills and knowledge when faced with challenges and happy to share existing knowledge and skills with others in the team.

You’ll be working in all the following areas, so you’ll need to be proficient in these technologies:

  • Providing support to a Windows (10 and 11), MacOS and iOS client base including the associated hardware.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager and JamF Pro configuration and management.
  • AD, AAD and Microsoft 365 use and administration.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Jira, Confluence & associated cloud services.
  • Relevant network service troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, etc).
  • VMWare vSphere configuration and management.
  • AWS EC2 and S3 administration.

Ideally, we would love you to have a good breadth of relevant IT industry experience.
