Senior Buyer - Electronics

We’re seeking an exceptional Electronics Senior Buyer to join our Supply Chain Team, based at our new purpose-built premises in Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely. You will play a key role in managing relationships with suppliers and support optimization of the procurement function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us and our mission to enable everyone who needs minimum access surgery the benefit of access to Versius our surgical robot.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, tracking and reporting key supplier metrics
  • Leading negotiations with stakeholders and external electronic suppliers
  • Finalising purchase details of orders and deliveries 
  • Evaluating current electronics supply chain status & where appropriate, look to reduce Electronics ASL
  • Price management – Analyse PCBA BOMs
  • Manage procurement with select PCBA and ancillary component suppliers
  • Assessing, managing and mitigating risks to supply chain
  • Building a culture of cost control & cost avoidance for long-term procurement savings 
  • Developing a clear vision and strategy for suppliers, and related source plan 
  • Monitoring the health of dedicated supplier portfolio(s), minimising exposure to supply risks and developing contingency plans for material crises
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand needs, technology, deliverables and translating into a viable robust sourcing strategy
  • Responsible for end-to-end sourcing process including supplier selection, negotiating, contracting and any other activities associated to contract and supplier management? 
  • Identifying, selecting and growing large scale supply chain partnerships, delivering cost savings against agreed business strategy
  • Performance management of strategic suppliers by creating and monitoring service
  • level agreements (SLA) and key performance indicators (KPI)? 
  • Instrumental in developing sound procurement policies and procedures and implementing them throughout the business.
  • Promoting best practice in contract management and supplier selection
  • Ensuring a culture of continuous improvement with all suppliers 

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

  • Experience in commodity management in Electronics
  • Experience leading procurement teams and activities
  • Familiarity with high-tech products which include advanced Control, Sensing, Ethernet electronics/electrical engineering
  • Detailed knowledge of SMT manufacture and testing requirements
  • Ability to cost a PCBA BOM
  • A high proficiency in NetSuite, MS Office and BI-tools
  • The ability to gather, analyse and report data
  • A talent for negotiations and networking
  • A genuine desire to help and support team members so that we can all achieve our best.

It would also be helpful if you have:

  • Previous experience of working within Medical Device, Automotive or Aerospace industry experience
  • ISO13485 experience
