CMR Surgical (CMR) – the global surgical robotics business – has today announced the launch of the next-generation surgical robotic system, Versius®, in Belgium. Sint-Franciscus Hospital – a regional public hospital in Heusden-Zolder – is the first Belgian hospital to install Versius, where it is being used as part of a multi-specialty programme to ensure more patients can access minimally invasive surgery.

Versius is the only small and modular surgical robotic system on the market which makes it easy to adopt for surgeons and hospitals. The modular nature of the design had enabled us to easily move the system between surgical teams across different specialties, maximising utilisation of the robot and allowing for more of our patients to receive minimal access surgery.”

This announcement follows the recent news that Versius has now been installed in over 100 hospitals globally, including Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.
